STAY ALONE, STAY SAFE AND STAY LEARNED

Stay Alone means a lot….
Stay alone means stay safe for nowadays….
Stay Safe doesn’t mean that stay unlearned….
And Stay Learned doesn’t mean that staying between Textbooks….

In my sense an effective way for learning is nothing but reading books. Books can be anything…Literary works, Genre based books, Magazines, Newspaper and even a Piece of Notice that can read will come under this. So….for me…. Those things that make us learned are those things that are readable. Reading is a kind of learning….and it doesn’t want a space physically….Reading can happen anywhere and at anytime….during Rush, during Day or Night, during Travel, during in Prison or even in the time of Quarantine….
Being in these days of Quarantine, as a detachable person reading is a time killer and at the same time a perfect way for entertainment as well as learning. As I said reading can be in isolation but it is not a confinement. Because it gives freedom in thinking as it is a flow in imaginations above boundaries and learning beyond the limits….With reading we can Watch, we can Feel, we can Touch, we can Sense etc….So, I’m going to suggest two works which are my favorites that helps you to fulfill whatever as said above….and I think it will works even for a starter too…The first work I’m going to suggest is one of the most famous gothic novel, may be you guys are familiar with…Bram Stoker's DRACULA. It is an 1897 novel by this Irish author i.e. Bram Stoker, featuring as its primary antagonist the vampire Count Dracula. This work has been attributed to many literary genres including Vampire Literature, Horror Fiction and Invasion Literature. Structurally it is an epistolary novel, that is, told as a series of letters, diary entries, ship’s logs etc…So I think it is easy to complete every chapter within six or seven days if we read with two or three chapters in each day. Along the work we go through many enigmatic themes like the role of Women in Victorian culture, conventional and conservative Sexuality, Immigration, Colonialism, Post colonialism and Folklore. So as a simple but poignant work Dracula covers a wide range of interesting Panorama of themes throughout the pages. Widely spoken, although Stocker did not invent the Vampire, the novel’s influence on the popularity of vampires has been singularly responsible for many theatrical, film and television interpretations throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. And especially for me even now this work and its antagonist haunts like a Cruel Romantic Shadow….

The next work I’m going to share with you is an Indian Drama, YAYATI, written by the very famous actor cum writer Girish Karnad.A play written in Kannada during 1960, Yayati was Karnad's first play and the best I have read so far. A small play in four acts, it uses the mythological theme of King Yayati that appears in the Mahabharata as a construct. Based on this construct, the playwright covers many usual, simple but valuable themes like responsibility, familial relationships, violence and cruelty, god and religion etc. Surprisingly the themes of Oedipal Complex (mother - son relationships) as well as the projection of weird women characters were amazingly portrayed in this work. Even though it is a historical based story it realizes many comparable or relative points that can correlate with our own lives and many applicable intuitions and morale that we can adaptable in ourselves. May be it is a simple story in its crust but its IMPACT is overwhelming.

CIRCUMSTANCES AND GLOBAL UNION- INDIA AS A TORCHBEARER

Circumstances usually tend to unite or divide the people. In this current scenario we are facing numerous crisis- amongst which Covid-19 is one of the present biggest issue all over the world. But apart from dividing themselves, people stood together to fight hand in hand to resist the deadly disease and governments all over the world rose efficient guidelines for the people by providing many allowances for communal welfare.

The chief minister of Kerala, Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan provided humongous support for the people. He ensured health packages, loan assistance, welfare pensions, free food grains, subsidized meals, relief and arrear clearance. In juxtaposition to Covid- 19, Kerala faced another crisis in 2018, the Flood. People showed their sheer perseverance, dedication and their strength to rebuild God’s own country – Kerala. When Government’s help policies had its limitations, people from the lower strata, the fishermen appeared like super heroes to rescue the people.
Coming back to Covid- 19 we can see the same bond among the people. They crucially followed the guidelines from the government. The motto of the people in this crisis all over the world was “Break the chain”. Prime minister of India, Sri. Narendra Modi announced CURFEW on 22 march 2020, Sunday from 7 am to 9pm.  The curfew aimed at the slogan “stay home, stay healthy” and it also focused on appreciating the medical department for their day and night hard work and dedication for the people.  Now he announced lockdown period and we are still following it with utmost care.

As humans, we are all obliged to ourselves and to our fellow human beings. We are all responsible to quarantine ourselves at home and educate others about social distancing and isolation in order to control Covid-19. Many co-operate companies have provided work at home facility for employees. The entire world is being shut down and as a whole community we are desperately trying to rise from this downfall. But in midst of all these concerns, there is an optimistic announcement from Mother Nature, that it is healing itself. This at times is necessary, when the so-called disciplined and regulated humans, who consider themselves the epicenter treat the world savagely…something like this is likely to happen in order to bring things back in control.

From all these aspects we now understand that India is now strong enough to deal with a looming threat, be it in the field of health care, economy and life of its citizens. At the verge of an exponential explosion, India is smart enough, kind enough and responsible enough to fight against the common enemy, an enemy that is being feared worldwide. We are the role models for the developed economies like Italy, USA, China and many more countries in the world.

We have not yet achieved what we are longing to achieve but that does not mean we are far from it. The county is still locked down, and to succeed or fail depends on how we take it. Together as a whole, individually as a person and emotionally as a human we can help the government execute this mission, thus accomplishing the most important need of this time. During this war like period, it is our chance to create a history by staying apart from people in bodies and remaining united in soul. Lets do it !!
